Abstract
Band ligation has many advantages. It is simple and painless and can be performed as an outpatient procedure. It's major disadvantage is that it can only be used for internal hemorrhoids.
Cryosurgery has the same advantages as band ligation. It's major disadvantages, however, are wound swelling, profuse discharge, and delayed wound healing. As a result, cryosurgery is not frequently used nowadays.
The authors developed a band ligation with cryospray pocedure for the purpose of maximizing the purpose of maximizing the advantages of band ligation and cryosurgery while monimizing the disadvantages of cryosurgery. The procedure has been used
at
Song-Do Anorectla hospital for the past five years.
To evaluate the efficacy of this procedure, 100 cases of band ligation with cryospray were studied in detail (23 males, 77 females). The complaints were anal prolapse in 95 patients, anal bleeding in 28 patients, anal pain in 15 patients, and
discharge
in 9 patients.
@ES The results are as follows;
@EN 1) After band liation with cryospray, all patients experienced some pain with 87 patients experiencing mild pain, 8 patients moderate pain, and 5 patients severe pain.
2) the mean treatment time was 5 minutes (3 minutes to 10 miutes), and the average wound-licaling time was 21 days (15 days to 40 days).
3) Complications after treatment included acute urinary retention in 2 patients and early wound bleeding inone patient. Neither secondary bleeding nor delayed wound healing was observed.
In conclusion, band ligation with cryospray is a simple, painless surgical method for treating grade II-III mixed hemorrhoids and can be used on an outpatient basis.
